Rented house? Deck it up efficiently!

It is not always that we live in a place we own. Especially in cities, renting out houses is a common story! Problem with rented houses is that the architecture is not as per one’s tastes, always. More than often, one has to settle down with a place that is either closer to work, or has space enough to meet requirements or is simply a new place to reside for a while. In rented houses, one cannot experiment around too muchfor obvious reasons.

Let’s see what then can be the elements that one can add to a rented place to make it one’s own keeping in mind the mobility factor of the furnishings that one chooses. Try opting for evergreen kind of items which do not lose their style and effect even if the house you live in changes.

Wooden furniture is something that is always in fashion and looks classy no matter the architecture. Teak wood sofas, tables, bed, dining tables etc. all are items that look extremely good and last very long. So one can just give a touch of Dulux wood paints and trust these furnishings for a very long time.

When living in a rented house, spend on long lasting furnishings- be it- wooden curtains or good quality storage cupboards. Try to mix and match the curtains you choose, do not go overboard with expensive curtains, and be very stringent with the budget when it comes to curtains. Spend well on artworks instead to lift up your house. Cushions, covers for furnishings etc. can be dressy as these are things one uses for long period of time. Be wise and there is no way you can go out of budget when it comes to decorating!

Doors make a difference

Doors complete the look of the home. Painting walls in beautiful textures and paints, and not having doors that match will take away the look of the whole of the room. Not just the main doors, but also the interior doors have to be well thought of and well chosen according to the taste, the personality and the home interiors.

Doors are available in every possible design, material and kind. The doors make the house used widely in homes as well as offices. Having broad gateways into the home to have privacy and a touch of sophisticated home interiors is a very good idea to uplift the look of one’s home interiors.

While one sets out to revamp one’s home décor, one can opt for doors made of timber, glass, metals etc. Usually metal doors are safety doors, so they are used with locks along with the wood doors for extra safety in homes and work places. Glass doors look great if total privacy is not the major concern. Wooden doors still spell class and look amazing no matter what colour one chooses as a theme to do up the entire room. If the doors are not chosen keeping in mind the entire décor, chances are high that the entire décor may go down look wise.

Durability, material, budget, utility and look of the door are some of the things that have to be kept in mind when it comes to choosing for doors that complement and enhance the room interiors. Hinged doors, panel doors, folding doors may be used as per one’s taste, décor and requirement. Dulux wood paints and metal paints are good options to maintain the look of the doors to give a fresh and finished look to the room décor.

Keep your wood furniture shining and attractive

Wood polish servers the purpose of protecting wood from fungal and algae damage as well as decay from water. Wood polish comes in two different types- clear coating and opaque coating. A good wood polish would be scratch resistant and stain free. A clear coating highlights the natural grain structure of the wood. Let’s see how one should go about polishing wood. The basic step involves using a sandpaper to remove all the dirt and smoothening the surface. If required, a mild thinner can be used to remove old marks. Often the colour of pine and cherry wood change after sanding and they do not take stains evenly. Nevertheless, the cracks or pits can be filled using wood putty. Once this is done, the wood is ready for polish. One should know that wood often changes colour after the application of polish. If you deliberately wish to change the colour of wood to match with the interiors, you can go for opaque paints. These come in matt and glossy finish.

Wood polish is an inflammable liquid and should be stored carefully. Proper protection should be taken by anyone who is painting it so that fumes of the spirit in the polish are not inhaled.

Once you have secured your wooden furniture, its time to look towards the wall exteriors. Dulux has a range of paints that have been formulated especially to withstand moisture, heat and extreme weather. Anti fungal paint are suitable for painting the exterior walls of house as well as the bathroom, where the walls remain damp most of the time. These also have a chemical that is dirt repellent and would keep you wall clean for a longer period of time. These paints can also be applied on surfaces which remain slightly damp (but are not saturated), for eg. cellars and porches.
