Be a trendsetter with eclectic ideas

Change is the only constant in life and similar to that, color trends for homes also keep evolving with time. So if you think that you now can relax in peace for a few years after painting the house on last Diwali or this wedding season, think again. The colour schemes are changing with time more quickly than you can imagine. Textured paints, luminous paints, designer paints etc keep entering the market and newer combinations of colors in paints ranging from the budget saving distemper to the luxurious finish velvet paint become available after regular intervals of time.

For example, if you want to go for Christmas colours this winter season; paint your walls with a combo of red, green and white. However, winters also demand a somber look. What do you do in that case? You can go for more shades of white like beige, crème or colours like peach and grey. It is good to capture the mood of the outer environment and bring it inside to house too. The somber colours can be spiced up with bright interiors and vice versa. Bright colours can be eased out using dull coloured curtains. An elegant vase in a corner, a hooka, a wine bottle keeper and antique frames on the main wall will add character to the room. The upholstery or subtle strips and designs on the wall also set the ambiance of a room and speak about the taste of the residents.

Neutral colours, however, are always in and give a very minimalist and serene feel to a space. So if you want to decorate your house, use this information or visit a Dulux Decorator store near your place and get gyaan from the professionals themselves!

Visualize, click, paint, splash!

Many people find themselves gaping at walls before they want to repaint the house. Which colour to use, what combinations to go for, what kind of paint (distemper, velvet, plastic paint or acrylic) to use, whether to go for textured or murals or wallpaper are some questions which crop up in one’s mind. Dulux understands this dilemma of its patrons and has come up with a novel solution — a virtual room and an online paint calculator. These two tools will help you discern the final look of your room as well as the budget of painting process.

Dulux colour scheme selector will help you choose and create your unique colour theme. If you already have a colour in mind, then select it from the wheel of colour that appears on the screen. You will find yourself face to face with a range of colours from that sceme- from calm, fresh, rich to warm shades. Before you get confused seeing so many colours, quickly select one color that is closest to the colour in your mind. Once this is done, you’ll have the options of choosing colours which will impart effects like harmonizing, toning, dynamic and neutrals to the room and colours that will coordinate beautifully with your walls, woodwork and accessories. The process henceforth is simple. Choose and click and paint the virtual room.

Once the virtual room is done, you can gauge if it suits your taste or not. Wow! Painting was never this much fun and simple earlier! Now you are ready to go to a Dulux store, name the precise colour and get the painted job started! Happy painting folks!

First impression lasts long

You might have given a lot of thought while doing an eclectic décor for your house interiors but have you ever realized that it is equally important to select good paint for the exterior walls as well? A lot of people make assumptions about the residents of the house by looking at the exterior façade. You surely wouldn’t want to give an incorrect impression. Thus, going for right materials for the exterior of the house, and using good colour schemes will accentuate the features of your dream home.

There have been many advances in the technology used to make colours in the paint industry and a plethora of shades of the same colour are now available. To add character and interest to your place, use a colour scheme that will boost the architectural features. For example, the edges of a slanted roof or a flat roof can be enhanced using white colour if the colour on the wall is warm and dark.

On the other hand, if the colour of the walls is light, bright colours can be used for the corners and tips. Also, you can extend the exterior colour scheme of your house to the adjoining landscape to create harmony with the environment.

Houses on the outskirts of a city that have ample open space may use schemes of brown, ivory and mahogany for exteriors. The town dwellers can use textured paint, gravel paint or a brick scheme to fuse home with their surroundings. If you are still dicey, visit a Dulux decorator centre near your city and let the experts spill some beans for you!
