Myra, a little girl used to love watching stars at night. She was a happy 7 years old little girl. Every night, she used to rush her meal and run to her room to talk to Santa Claus. ‘Santa is my best friend’, she told her mother. Her mother couldn’t help but smile at her innocence and hugged her warmly.

Her mother asked her, “Myra, what is it that made Santa your best friend?” Myra’s eyes gleamed and glistened with happiness as she prepared to narrate her affection animatedly to her mother. She said with her arms flowing here and there in a happy rhythm, “Maa, Santa has always fulfilled my wishes.” “Maa Maa, you know every year I make a colourful wish and I tell Santa about that wish everyday.”

Myra’s mother understood the reason behind Myra’s excitement. Last Christmas, Myra wished for a Barbie doll and her mother quietly hid it under her quilt on Christmas morning and told her that Santa got it for her.

Myra’s mother asked her, “What is it that you want this Christmas?” Myra said, with her arms around her mother’s pregnant belly, “I want a baby sister to play with”. Myra’s mother couldn’t control the tears of joy and kissed her forehead.

The Colourful Mall Experience

How would a shopaholic and mall-aholic feel as he/she enters a huge, shiny, sizzling, glamorous mall?! She enters the premises of the malls, parks her car and begins walking towards the arch doors of the mall. In a wintery dark blue-greyish green night, the mall sizzles and looks like a colourful jewel. The mall looks like a celebration of all the colours in the world. The shopaholic walks, soaking in all that glitter and jazz of the mall and sways past the clear and posh automatic glass doors that open and welcome everyone due to the attentive sensors attached to them.

A beat is lost, eyes do not blink and smile widens as the shopaholic stands amused by the sheer concoction of colours displayed at every single corner of the mall! The mannequins in colourful and high-style outfits wave at the shopaholic and tease her, compelling her to come near and try all the colours of the outfits that are there in the dolled up showrooms. She tries and buys…a something red, a something blue and a something silvery.

The shopaholic grins a happy cherry red smile and pays her dutiful visit to all the stores and lends an ‘I’ll get you soon’ touch to all the colourful things that are displayed. She is overwhelmed with the white and yellow lights, the colourful displays, the bright shops of colourful clothes, accessories, food and all the nice things in the world. She sees, she buys and then she celebrates the colours of life and being so alive….relishing on a huge multi-layered ice-cream with a creamy-white layer, a crunchy brown something, a pinkish red scoop, yellow mango layer with a red cherry and green mint on top! Mall-rat or not… jump into the colours of being alive..Celebrate all that’s there and look through a coloured lense towards whatever you see or experience….life would become much more colourful and sparkly!

Dance & tune into the colours inside

Have you ever wondered what does expression mean? Expression is the way one lets others know what goes on in one’s mind. Expression is words, vocabulary and a lot more. Words are just one way to express.

There are some art forms that are used to express one self as beautifully as words can. Performing arts help express one self very deeply. There are colours of depth that are there in the expressions that are communicated with the performing arts. The art forms are a very colourful tool to express oneself, especially dancing.

Someone has rightly said that “Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.” Dance is an expression of joy. Movements, gestures and facial expressions when in a colourful harmony make it a delightful way to express and emote. Also, dancing is the most creative and simplest of ways to let the emotions that otherwise are tough to be expressed. One does not need any training when one wishes to dance. Dancing is about letting others see the real individual that one is. It is about letting go of all the inhibitions and shake off all the stress that may have been there restricted and inaccessible for others to see.

Dance is the colourful celebration of being alive. There are millions of ways in which one can express one self, dancing is merely one of them and is the simplest. Dance like no one is there to watch, shed off the inhibitions, let go of all the fears and just celebrate the colourful movement of life. Let the colours inside harmonize with the ones that we inhabit everyday and present a colourful rhythm that has the melodies and colourful notes to match that depth called Life. Have a Colourful Life!

Neutral shades are magical. There are all kinds of colours for different seasons, for occasions and for different rooms and spaces of my house!

Grey is a great neutral shade. It works well in all occasions, moods and places. For example, you can always choose to wear grey to add warmth to your look in winter season or formal occasions. For walls, grey is not always a good choice as grey walls may pull your mood and spirit down! Though, one can use grey rugs and quilts to add that touch of warmth by combining the grey with some other colours to avoid totally blanking out the décor of the room.

Black is a powerful colour and is an evergreen colour. However, black is not a colour for walls. You can add black bean bags or couches to fuse the colour into your décor and make your space look sheek and contemporary!

White and cream are beautiful colours for walls of your home. They add the feel of instant serenity to your space. These colours never go out of fashion and are always the first choice for making your house look spacious, classy, clean and pure.

Navy is a very formal and very subdued colour. You can’t go wrong with some colours and navy is one such colour! However, if your considering dressing up in all navy, make sure you do not over do it and ensure that you break the monotony of the shade by wearing mufflers, belts etc. Incase of walls, team the navy colour with other neutral shades and try adding silver accessories with navy colour around your décor to create a rich and elegant look for your home!

Camel colour is another colour that never goes out fashion. You can team it with bright maroons, oranges etc to bring the traditional factor to your home. Wearing camel colour is not such a great idea, but, you can bring in the colour into your life through your walls and your home décor!

Combine, create, contrast colours and add colours to your life through your wardrobe, walls, décor, accessories etc. Have a colourful life!
