Life is full of special moments which add meaning to our lives. Life is all about experiences, occasions, moments big and small. These moments have colours and flavours of their own. The expressions, moods and emotions behind experiences are said not just in a direct way but can be said using representations through colours.
Painting the town red is an expression of fun and unlimited enjoyment. It is a celebration of life and vitality. When we say pink of health it means being in the best of health and spirits. If we are tickled pink, we are extremely pleased about something. We see pink elephants when we are drunk. When we feel blue, it means we are feeling sad and depressed often when there is no particular reason. If something happens rarely, we say it happens once in a blue moon. Sometimes a gift, a letter or may be a visit from a dear one becomes an ‘out of the blue’ moment for us. If you describe something as a white elephant, you mean that it is a waste of money because it is completely useless. Such an expression has a feeling of anger for over-pricing. The emotions we use in words are supported by expressions through colours. If you refer to an untrue statement as a white lie, you mean that it is made to avoid hurting someone's feelings or to avoid trouble and not for an evil purpose. We often turn green with envy which means we are jealous and envious of someone. If we say that someone has green fingers, we mean that they are very good at gardening and their plants grow well. Passing with flying colours means great or total success.
Colours are used to express our state of mind and emotions of happiness, health, surprise and even jealousy, anger or sadness etc. Colours help us not only while painting but also help us express creatively. Colours add spice to our expressions and emotions!!
