General problems during painting

Have you ever noticed light blotches of paint on the wall after the paint has dried of? Is the surface embedded with bristles and dust granules at certain places? Or are you experiencing a shade variation in the final look of the wall? These are some problems that people encounter at times after painting. This points out to the fact that not much care was taken by the masonry workers during the process of painting. Following things should be kept in mind while painting any surface. Too much thinning of paint using water than required will not give you the desired results. Conversely, a thick coat of paint is also not recommended because it’ll give a rough finish. If the previous paint-coat is dark and you’ve applied the topcoat without primer-putty primer, then you wouldn’t be able to see the right colour of the new paint on the wall. Applying less number of layers than recommended results in dull colour. In case of distemper, apply a minimum of three coats and two coats in case of velvet paints.

Apart from this, unable to get impeccable results after paints can be due to poor quality of application tools. Dust or bittiness on new paintwork can be caused because of atmospheric settling of dirt on the freshly painted surface or because of improper sandpaper scrubbing of the surface before application. Loose particles get mixed with the paint while painting. Therefore, during surface preparation, the surface should be thoroughly cleaned of paint chips and cracks should be covered with putty. If these basic precautions are taken care of, then you will get desired results and your home will exude style and perfection!
